I've had my camera about 10 days. It is truly amazing. Until three weeks ago I had no idea how a 360 camera worked. Then I saw a video on the new Antigravity drone, which features a 360 camera. One thing led to another and I started watching videos that featured the Insta360 X5. This was a revelation. I bought one.\n\nSo far I've taken a few videos using the short selfie stick and am quite pleased with the results. Normally I do not shoot video; however, seeing what this camera can do I plan to shoot a lot more. There are many YouTubes showing how to get various effects, and they are very useful. Shooting is easy. Where the skill comes in is editing.\n\nEven though I've watched a number of tutorials on how to edit and read a book on the subject, I find that getting a video clip to look just the way I want is somewhat difficult and requires a significant effort. Maybe I'm finding it harder because I never edited video before. On the other hand, being able to create two totally different movies from the same original footage is really quite unbelievable. I also tried the tracking option, which worked perfectly. \n\nMy primary interest is shooting still photos. Given the extreme point of view flexibility achievable with the camera I expect to get shots previously unobtainable.\n\nIt's a kick to use.

Doesn't work with Matterport and is buggy with Zillow 3D - Insta360 X5 for Real Estate 3D Tours (Matterport & Zillow 3D Tours) – March 2026
Reviewed on www.bhphotovideo.com·Christian
As of March 2026, the Insta360 X5 is not yet a reliable camera for real estate 3D tour workflows, particularly if you rely on Matterport or Zillow 3D Tours.\n\nFirst, the camera does not currently work with the Matterport platform. For professionals who depend on Matterport for creating 3D property scans, this is a major limitation and effectively prevents the X5 from being integrated into a typical real estate scanning workflow.\n\nSecond, the camera shows buggy behavior when used with Zillow 3D Tours. In testing, HDR mode caused consistent issues during the tour creation process. The only way to produce a workable Zillow 3D tour was to disable HDR mode entirely. While this workaround allows the tour to process, it also reduces image quality and dynamic range, which is not ideal for real estate where balanced interior and window exposures are important.\n\nAnother concern is battery life. The X5 does not run particularly long during continuous capture sessions. For any real estate scanning session longer than about 45 minutes, you will realistically need two to three backup batteries to complete the job without interruptions. For example apparently below 30% the scans will be further compressed and image quality will go down (message will inform the user within the app).\n\nFinally, despite the camera advertising 72MP image capture, the real-world image quality does not appear noticeably better than older 360 cameras. Even with all firmware updates installed and the latest features enabled, the output does not look significantly different from 2–3 year old cameras with much lower megapixel counts, such as the Ricoh Theta Z1. For professionals expecting a visible leap in detail or clarity for property tours, the improvement is minimal at best.\n\nOverall, while the Insta360 X5 may be a capable consumer 360 camera, it is currently not well suited for professional real estate 3D tour production. Until Matterport support is added, Zillow compatibility becomes more stable, and the image quality advantage becomes clearer, it is difficult to recommend this camera for anyone using the X5 within this workspace. I didn't test for video.

The image quality as well...
Reviewed on www.bhphotovideo.com·Aaron
The image quality as well as the built in microphone are definitely an upgrade over the X4. The Pure Video mode works great when shooting low light or in the city at night. A few people with X5s noticed an odd green artifact in the desktop app when the Premium lens guards were mounted. It did not appear on the device's screen so it may be a software issue? I really like the fact that the actual lenses can be replaced if damaged. The 1.2 sensors deliver a great and clean image and the battery seems to be lasting a little longer when filming 8k 360 over the X4. So far very satisfied.

For what’s available and the price point, the X5 is the all-around winner for 360° cameras. PureVideo mode is a massive upgrade to low-light video! HDR is exceptional. These cameras have long been so much fun, but they’re becoming a serious piece of gear in your bag now. The X5 is a serious upgrade from the X3, and pretty substantial upgrade from the X4 for certain things. Watch Ben Claremont’s YouTube videos for great content about the various benefits and uses, I won’t bore you by listing details here. Off you’re looking for a 360° camera, THIS is the one you want!

As a full-time professional photographer for the past 30 years, I know what good imagery should look like. For such a small sensor camera, this model has extremely good quality, especially when you compare it to my old GoPro 360. The editing software is leaps and bounds better too. I've bought every accessory to go with it, including the ND filters, which you really should get to prevent the jaggy-look from high shutter speeds. The battery life is much better too. Just get it!

I've had several models of Insta360's camera's - ONE X2, ONE RS Twin edition and the ACE PRO. The X5 blows them all away. I wanted a 360 cam that would take better night shots and so far the X5 is amazing and matches the PURE VIDEO feature of the ACE PRO. I wanted the selfie stick eliminated so the X5 did the trick. The ease of use is perfect. I always use the voice commands and the well placed menu buttons. I can only imagine what their next model will do.

I am a adventure vlogger and wanted a camera that could dl it all. This is it! Amazing image quality. Amazing features! The only gripe I have is that there are very few assesories for it yet. If you buy form 360, it takes forever to arrive. Thats why I buy everything from B&H Photo. I ordered batteries from insta360 3 weeks ago, still havent shown up. Orderd from B&H 2days ago, arriving in 2 more days. And nobody but Insta360 has chargers yet!

I like the camera but I wish it had the same stabilization as my DJI Action 3 & 4, just seems a little too bumpy espeacially on a selfie stick.\n\nEditing is easy to learn and such a kick. I rode a motorcycle through a covered bridge and when I turned the view around to see me coming out of the bridge it was way better than just seeing a front view all the way through.\n\nTo see it go to Youtube channel: Scoutingitout

I have only used this camera once so far, but I am very impressed with it. It is not too complicated to use, very compact, and captures really nice quality video and still images. There are a ton of mounting options for it as well. The one thing I didn't like was that the camera shut off after just four seconds when I wasn't using it, but I think I can adjust a setting to fix that.

Upgraded from the Insta360 X3 to the X5 and was truly surprised by the jump in image quality. The difference is immediately noticeable. I’ve used it both in water and on roller coasters, and it handled action shots flawlessly. With reframing and 60fps, the results are absolutely stunning. This is hands down the best 360 camera out there right now.

I'm primarily using the X5 for real estate 360° photos for online virtual tours. So I really haven't even explored the video side of this camera yet (I know, I know!). Using this for my shooting greatly simplifies the process and speeds up my workflow. The interface and free iOS and desktop apps are simple to use and allow for lots of creativity.

Once you figure out the new phone app. and how to transfer video files into 360 studio, it's a wonderful camera. I upgraded from the X3. The wind filter is fabulous. Very stable on a bumper ride on my jeep in Northern Arizona. Don't remove the card to transfer files to the 360 studio, use the camera to transfer on a high-speed cable.
